FAQ

How often do hair extensions need to be maintained?

Sensen Beaded Weft extensions should be maintained every 8-10 weeks. The same hair can be reused as many times as it remains in good condition. With proper home care (see question 2), the hair can last for up to a year!

How do I take good care of my extensions?

Sense hair is high-quality European hair with the cuticle intact, which can be tinted if necessary (Note! Dyed extensions are not covered by warranty). Extension hair undergoes various treatments at the factory and is therefore more porous than your own hair, so it always requires extra care:

Always use products recommended by your hairdresser for extensions; high-quality moisturizing and smoothing products are best! Recommendation: Sebastian Dark Oil range, Davines OI range.

Your wash water may contain metals and minerals that can ruin porous extension hair; in this case, the best solution is to get a shower filter. Recommendation: www.aqva.fi

INSTRUCTIONS:

- Avoid chemical sunscreens that contain ingredients like Avobenzone, Octocrylene, and Oxybenzone (also check for other chemical names for these ingredients). These can cause a chemical reaction in the hair and turn it orange.

- Avoid protein and keratin-rich products, as they unnecessarily harden the extension hair and can cause breakage; moisturization is number 1!

- ALWAYS use a heat protectant when heat-styling your hair. High temperatures fade colors and dry out the hair, eventually leading to breakage.

- Apply a light moisturizing leave-in conditioner or a high-quality hair oil to the ends of the extensions daily. This keeps the hair hydrated and silky soft for longer.

- Brush your hair thoroughly at least morning and night, working from the ends towards the roots, using a brush designed for extensions, and braid it for the night. If you do not want to tie your hair up at night, get a silk pillowcase or a bonnet, which prevents the hair from rubbing during the night.

- Do not sleep with wet hair! Remember to also wash the base of the extensions carefully, and dry at least the root area after washing so that moisture does not remain trapped in the scalp and extensions.

- Do not go swimming in chlorinated or seawater (especially with dry hair!). If you still want to swim and dive, always saturate your hair thoroughly with clean water before entering the pool/sea and apply a mask/conditioner to protect it so the hair does not absorb impurities from the water. You can also braid your hair as a final step.

- When using self-tanners, protect the hair especially well so that it does not become discolored. It is also recommended to protect your own hair well, as self-tanner is challenging to remove, especially from light-colored hair.

How do you properly care for a wooden hairbrush?

A wooden hairbrush stays beautiful and hygienic when it is maintained regularly and correctly.

Remove hair from the brush after every use. If necessary, wash the brush with lukewarm water and mild soap or shampoo, avoiding soaking. Rinse thoroughly and dry the brush with a towel. Let it air dry with the bristles facing down. Do not use disinfectants, as they can dry out the wood and cause it to crack.

If needed, the wooden parts and natural bristles (boar) can be lightly treated with natural oil (e.g., linseed or jojoba oil) or a high-quality hair oil to prevent drying.

With proper maintenance, a wooden hairbrush will last for a long time and retain its natural properties.

How many wefts are needed for thickening or extensions?

Recommendation:

  • For thickening: 1–3 wefts
  • For a full extension: 3–8 wefts

The final amount needed depends on the thickness and length of the client's own hair and the desired result.
